When I was an Au Pair in Wales I was looking after two children (a boy and a girl) and for Christmas the little Girl had to rehearse for a Christmas Show she was taking part in, at school. For weeks all I’ve heard every day (for houuuurs) was Christmas songs. To be honest with you I did not know many Christmas songs in English before the show so I discovered the “Twelve Days of Christmas” song thanks to Molly. Anyway! I was looking for a bookish tag and when I saw the name for this one I thought “This is for me !!!” So let’s do it!
ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE.
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?
I can’t choose one.. so my favorite stand alone are “They Both Die at The End” by Adam Silvera and “When We Collided” by Emery Lord. I love those two books so much, I can’t even explain. For those who knows me, they won’t be surprise to see Adam Silver mentioned here.
ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TWO TURTLE DOVES.
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?
Of course I’m going to choose Rufus and Mateo from “They Both Die at The End” by Adam Silvera but there’s also Noah and Nick from the series “Culpables” by Mercedes Ron.
ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: THREE FRENCH HENS.
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?
The best trilogy I read is “The Illuminae Files” by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kauffman. It was so hard to choose just one trilogy but those books are absolutely perfect and beautiful.
ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FOUR CALLING BIRDS.
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?
Definitely the series “A Contre Sens” originally called “Culpables” by Mercedes Ron! I’m waiting for book 5 to come out in few weeks! Omg!!
ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FIVE GOLDEN RINGS.
One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favourite Villain/Antagonist?
The Caliph of Khorasan in “The Wrath and The Dawn” but .. is he really a Villain ?
ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SIX GEESE A LAYING.
Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?
Definitely the world in “The Illuminae Files” (trilogy). Also “Otherworld” written by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller. Those authors are so creative!
ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SEVEN SWANS A SWIMMING.
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?
Peter Rabbit ? No joke! I am absolutely in love with Peter Rabbit. I have no idea why………
Also obviously .. a fox … “The Fox and The Hound“. Foxes are my all time faves!
ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING.
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?
I have no idea …. Tell me in the comments what would be your answers!
Maybe “Harry Potter” with all the buffets, the butter beers, etc …
ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: NINE LADIES DANCING.
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?
Shahrzad in “The Wrath and The Dawn” written by Renée Ahdieh (Duology). She’s absolutely fantastic and so strong.
ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TEN LORDS A LEAPING.
How about your favourite leading lad?
Miles in “Looking For Alaska” ! It was very hard to choose because I also love Jonah in “When We Collided” but I was trying to look for new book titles!
ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: ELEVEN PIPES PIPING.
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)
It’s a series written by a French self-published author: “The Fallen Angels” written by Priincess Ramera Cassi. She writes about her own story through different characters. Each books are about two characters. The Fallen are a band and in each books there is a playlist.
ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING.
Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?
I’ve had many already (even though I did not read much!) so I’d say:
- The Wrath and The Dawn – Renée Ahdieh
- The Rose and The Dagger – Renée Ahdieh
- Unspeakable – Abbie Rushton
- Dear Evan Hansen – Val Emmich
- The Wicker King – K. Ancrum
- Culpables (series) – Mercedes Ron
- The Sidewalk’s Regrets – Kate Larkindale
- Radio Silence – Alice Oseman
