[Quick Reviews] “What If It’s Us” – Adam Silvera, Becky Albertalli and “Love & Gelato” – Jenna Evans Welch

I decided to start a ‘Quick Reviews’ section to post some of my really short reviews. Also I wanted to share with you some of my reviews from my first blog – so I’ll post them under this section.

What If It’s Us” is a book written by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli. They are both authors of many other books such as “History is All You Left Me” for A. Silvera and “Simon VS The Homosapiens Agenda” for B. Albertalli.

Arthur is in New York on holidays when he meets Ben at the post office. He knows the Universe holds something into this meeting but the two boys forgot to exchange their phone numbers.. How are they going to find each other again ?

We discover New York through Arthur’s eyes. When he meets Ben we found out that the latter just broke up with Hudson. Before meeting up again the two boys are trying everything to discover the identity of the other. When they finally meet again the build a really strong friendship very quickly. We then discover their families which are totally different. We also meet Dylan – Ben’s best friend- who is as endearing as the two main characters.

I have not enough words to describe how much I loved this novel. Just read it! The characters are so sweet and endearing that it’s just not possible to not love them and the story is absolutely beautiful.

What I love the most in this novel (a part from the characters and the story obviously) is the fact that it’s written by two authors but you can actually tell it’s them through the way the wrote it, the way the characters speaks and acts and that we also find some scenes and characters from their own books in this novel. There are many plots twist.

And this end …. definitely written by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli’s book. Damn.

Once again the two authors gave us an amazing novel. You won’t want to stop reading it.

Lina is seventeen when her mum passes. She moves to Italy to meet with her biological dad. Why did her mum never told her about him ? Barely arrived, she already wants to go back to USA. Then she meets Ren, a boy her age, who’s showing her around. She finally decides to read the diary her mum left her with all the secrets she was keeping.

I was fascinated by this book. It felt like I was travelling around some Italian’ cities with Lina. The plot is perfeclty led and the revelations are made all through the read.

Lina is a really interesting character, she’s a very smart girl who love going on adventures and who is ready to do anything to understand why her mum left her this diary instead of telling her all her secrets when she was still alive. Ren is also a very interesting and endearing character. He’s doing everything he can to help Lina during her journey in Florence.

I definitely loved and would recommend this book. I did not want it to end. Since I’ve read this book I’m even more obsessed by Italy.

Have you read any of this book or heard of them ?
