Nine days to go… 🎄
I had in my list of TV show on Netflix a show that I really wanted to watch but I never felt in the mood for, and I watched it recently and let me tell you that I completely fell in love with it…
This TV show is based on the novels written by Sherryl Woods. The first season came out on Netflix in May 2020 (and guys, it’s been renewed for season 2! Thank god for that!).
Sweet Magnolias is about three best friends Maddie Towsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliott) and Helen Decatur (Heather Headley). Maddie is getting a divorce, after her ex-husband (Bill) cheated on her with Noreen (his assistant in work, who is pregnant). Dana Sue, is the owner and the chef of a restaurant (The Sullivan’s) and Helen, is an attorney.
The show starts when Helen and Dana Sue, surprises Maddie with a big project: they bought a very old house in their city that has been very important in their childhood, to start a business together and build a SPA for women.
Maddie and Dana Sue, both have children who are very close friends, whereas Helen would love one but it’s a bit complicated on her side because of the guy she loves.
It’s a story about friendship, romance, learning to know yourself, making your dreams come true, …
The story and plot, really gripped me. I really enjoyed it straight away, and the more I was watching the more I was loving it. I love all the characters but I really really like Helen’s one. She is so amazing, so smart, she knows what she wants, she’s very bad-ass I think! I really like the character of Isaac as well who is working for Dana Sue in the kitchen, is got loads to bring to the story as well as Erik who is the sous-chef (and I wish he was Helen’s lover!). (love Kyle as well, Maddie’s youngest son!)
The whole season is amazing, but guys let me tell you that the last episode… oh.my.god. CLIFFHANGER! It’s so unfair that they finished the season like this, I need more! I need to know. Now! Honestly so glad that it’s been renewed! But I really want to read the books, as well, now!
Have you watched or plan to watch Sweet Magnolias ? Have you read them ?
