[Original Book Tag] The Good Times and the Bad Ones – Why Don’t We (Book Tag Edition)

I’m so excited to finally write and publish this post! I had the idea back in November I think, and I’m finally taking the time to actually prepare it.

So today, I’m back on the blog with an original tag which I’m so so so excited about because it’s a book tag based on the new album by Why Don’t We.

The Good Times and the Bad Ones is the second album by Why Don’t We, which was released on the 15th of January 2021 – so a month ago (if you read this post on the day it’s being published!). Anyway enough with the chit-chat…

Rules :

  • Link back to the original post (this post, please)!
  • Feel free to do this tag even if you are not tagged!
  • Tag some people at the end of your post!
  • Last but not least, listen to this amazing album and enjoy this tag!

“Caught in the moment, not even thinkin’ twice
Everything’s frozen, nothing but you and I
Can’t stop my heart from beating, why do I love this feeling?”

Track 1 – Fallin’ (Adrenaline)

♥︎A character you’d fall in love with in real life.

There are three that comes to my mind straight away – Aaron Soto (“More Happy Than Not” – Adam Silvera), Jonah (“Where We Collided” – Emery Lord), Rev (“More Than We Can Tell” – Brigid Kemmerer) but I already know that I’ll want to use those novels for others answers and as I’d love to try not to answer with the same titles all the time well I have to think harder now …

After hours and hours of reflexion (this is a lie) I’ll say Patch in “Hush, Hush” by Becca Fitzpatrick!

“I think we need a little California ’cation

We took a shot at this, but maybe we’re too wasted”

Track 2 – Slow Down

♥︎A romance set in California.

The first book in the “Did I Mention I Love You” series is set in Santa Monica, California! If you haven’t read the story of Eden and Tyler, you should definitely give it a go as it’s the perfect romance if you’re looking for an easy and quick read (and also if you like forbidden love story).

“‘Cause I never want this night to end

Baby, we could turn back time

Do it all over again

Tomorrow we can press rewind”

Track 3 – Lotus Inn

♥︎A book you wish you could forget at the end to be able to read it over and over again.

Just like for the first track, so many novels are coming to my mind but I’m gonna try to pick only one and I swear that this is so hard as I would love to put all the ones I wrote down for the first track and more, but I also wish I could choose all the books from Adam Silvera (how surprising! I know!).

So my choice goes to “More Happy Than Not” by Adam Silvera, as this novel absolutely broke my heart and I’d let it break my heart 10.000th times.

“We’re dancin’ on the edge of anxiety’s ledge

And I might fall again, I might fall

We’re walkin’ on a rope of worry, and I hope

That I don’t fall again, I don’t fall”

Track 4 – Be Myself

♥︎A book that had an impact on you when you’ve read it.

When I listened to this song I thought abut “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig which broke my heart (again) but made me think a lot while I was reading. In this novel we are following a young woman, Nora, who took her own life because of loneliness. She ends up in the midnight library where she gets to live all the lives she could have had if she had made different decisions. It was absolutely beautiful and very touching. (TW: Mental Health)

“I wrote another love song, baby, about you

I’ve written one for every second without you

It goes like this, oh-oh-oh-oh

It goes like this, oh-oh-oh-oh

I wanna see the whole damn world with you, baby

Yeah, you could be the one, girl, you’re drivin’ me crazy”

Track 5 – Love Song

♥︎A romance you always recommend.

As my partner would say “you always read dark book about death, like this one actually says that they both die at the end!” yes, right okay he is 100% right I mean my favourite author writes only super sad love story, that’s not my fault. But for this song I wanted to try and think about a cute romance and not a heartbreaking romance even though I always recommend reading “They Both Die at The End” by Adam Silvera. (Okay no joke, all the romances I want to put here are super sad …)

I really couldn’t think about a happy cute romance, so I asked Sarah (@Sarah_Avenue) “Which romance do I always recommend?” ans she said “Well … They Both Die at The End” ⬇︎ Definitely her when she heard the question …

Final decision goes to – “They Both Die At The End” by Adam Silvera even though this one will break your heart! (I almost picked “A Thousand Boy Kisses” by Tillie Cole, and then remembered how I soaked my pillow in tears when I read it so …)

“You don’t want me no more

I never hurt like this before

I’m beggin’, beggin’, please

Now every day it rains

And I’m the one to blame

Baby, I walked away

When you came to stay, oh

Now everything’s grey”

Track 6 – Grey

♥︎A heartbreaking love story.♡

Oh my … watch me…

I could have 100% chose “They Both Die at the End” again, but when I heard this song I thought about another heartbreaking novel …

“I’m so, so sorry
I know that’s not enough, but
It’s true, yeah, it’s true
I can’t believe that I
Thought I could ever live
Without you, yeah, without you, oh”

Track 6 – Grey

and well I know I should have mentioned that this tag was once gonna be 100% about Adam Silvera but I can’t help myself … This song reminds me too much of Griffin and Theo loves story in “History is All You Left Me“.

“I really gotta ask myself (Oh-oh-oh)

If I knew you weren’t good for me then

Why do I want you back right now? (Oh-oh)

Like, you think I would’ve asked by now (Oh-oh)

I’m in the palm of your hand and you don’t give a damn”

Track 7 – For You

♥︎A book you thought you were gonna love but ended up having mixed-feelings about it…

Definitely one of my last read “Running With Lions” by Julian Winters, which I thought I was absolutely gonna love … It took me ages to get in the book and I only enjoyed the last ten chapters…

“We did it for the hell of it

We did it for the good times and the bad ones

We didn’t think about what shit might happen

But once you light a fire, it’s gonna burn”

Track 8 – I’ll Be Okay

♥︎A forbidden love story.

This is an easy one, “The Wrath and The Dawn” by Renée Ahdieh is definitely a(n amazing) forbidden love story. Shahrzad only volunteers to be the future bride of the Caliph of Khorasan after he killed her best friend. Khalid, the Caliph of Khorasan, chooses a new future bride every day to kill them at dawn …

“Red, your lips are kissing on my neck down to my chest

I grab your shoulders, flip you over, you know where I’m going

Hold on to my hair, girl, go ahead

I’m gonna make you feel so damn crazy”

Track 9 – Look At Me

♥︎A steamy book.

If you listen to this song only a steamy book would come to your mind, and it took me ages to think about one because I’m so *stupid* but my choice should have been so obvious … so if you are looking for a steamy book you should definitely go for “Let Me Love You” by Lasairiona E. McMaster (also everyone has to love Jeremy!).

“I just wish things could be like they used to

But they never will now I see right through you”

Track 10 – Stay

♥︎A book that did not a sequel (or third, …)

Even though I’ve loved “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman, and read the sequel I don’t think that second book was needed …

I hope you liked this tag, I am tagging anyone that is interested in doing it. Don’t forget to listen to this album over and over again.
