If you are looking for a new show to watch and that you haven’t watched “On My Block” yet well … here’s your sign to go and watch it ! Believe me you won’t regret it!
On My Block has four seasons, and the last season came out yesterday (October 04th, 2021) – One last time around the block … and let me tell you something – I already miss the cast, the show, the plot twists, everything!
This Netflix show is about four best friends – Ruby, Monse, Jamal and Cesar. They live in Freeridge where two big gangs (and more) are fighting: The Santos and The Prophets. Cesar’s family are part of The Santos. One summer, Monse goes away for a camp and when she comes back Cesar he’s not with the others… his brother, Spooky, is back from prison and Cesar is now part of The Santos! His best friends just wants to help him out, and one way to do this is money … or so they think… and Jamal is all about finding the Rollerworld money, which was stolen and disappeared many years ago.
There’s obviously more to the story but I don’t want to spoil any plots or twists so you’ll have to watch it if you want to find out more about this show!
During the four seasons we follow the four best friends and their family, as well as many other characters in this wild journey. You’ll laugh, cry, get scared, you’ll experience so many feelings with this show. I also love the fact that they’ve mixed the English and Spanish culture. It’s so lovely to hear Spanish words/sentences, and I felt like it made some of the moments even more beautiful and deep.
I can’t chose one favourite characters they are all amazing and have their own thing that makes them amazing and you become attached to them so quickly. This show is very addictive!
My main favourite characters are obviously – Ruby, Jamal, Cesar and Monse. I also love Jasmine, Spooky, Abuelita, Olivia, Geny and really all of them are so amazing ! Let’s not forget about Chivo and the gnomies because this is a huge part of the crazy moments that I couldn’t stop laughing about. (Fav duo: Jamal and Abuelita, though! I think we can only agree about this!)
I don’t want to spoil any of the show so let me just say that I was never disappointed by any seasons. Every seasons were beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, full of plot twists and I couldn’t imagine a better way to start and end the show. The circle is complete.
If you are looking for a show about friendship, love, family, death and grief, adventure, gangs, supporting each other’s and more well this is your show!
I’m gonna 100% miss this show. Thankfully I can rewatch it as many times as I want (again). I’ll wait for the spin off in Freeridge!
